Web Site Accessibility - Section 508
Website accessibility refers to the compatibility of websites with the assistive technologies used by people who are physically challenged. Many disabled people use assistive technologies to interface with computers (i.e. text readers). Many web pages cannot be accessed by these devices because of their syntax and design. With the introduction of Section 508, websites are required to become compliant with federal regulations for use by disabled persons.
Section 508 requires the federal government to make all goods and services including Web pages fully accessible. It identifies specific standards for Internet and Web accessibility, which are often used as a basis for evaluating whether or not Web sites meet accessibility requirements.
This affects Government agencies as well as private sector institutions. They must make their websites and intranets accessible according to 508 standards, and they can only create or purchase web enabled applications that are compliant with these standards.
You know you have to make future Web functions compliant with accessibility legislation, but what about your existing site? Is your website accessible to users with disabilities? Don't let your business get banned for not meeting 508 standards.
Our business software tools are designed to make your web site accessible as determined by the Section 508. To make site accessible to assistive technologies, our tools correct improper formatting with virtually no impact on the appearance of your site.
